Question 1

Does Liberation Counseling and Consulting take insurance?

Accepted Answer

The short answer is maybe. Liberation Counseling and Consulting is a collective, which means each therapist sets their own rates and insurance policies independently. Some teammates can take insurance, and others work on a self-pay basis. If your specific insurance plan cannot be accepted, we will provide you with all the paperwork you need to submit for out-of-network reimbursement. To find out about your specific plan, reach out to us directly and we will sort it out together.

Question 2

What are the therapy rates at Liberation Counseling and Consulting in Tucson?

Accepted Answer

Because Liberation Counseling and Consulting is a collective, each therapist sets their own rates independently. Visit the individual therapist pages for Amber Wychers, Atiq Shomar, and Indy Gloyd to learn more, or contact us directly and we will help you find an option that works for your situation. Sliding scale availability varies by therapist.

Question 3

Can I see a therapist in person at Liberation Counseling in Tucson?

Accepted Answer

Yes. All of our Tucson-based teammates have in-person availability at our two Tucson offices: 10501 E Seven Generations Way, Suite 121 (Civano, east Tucson) and 1200 N. El Dorado Place, Suite D420 (central Tucson). We also offer online therapy for anyone who prefers the convenience or flexibility of telehealth. Online sessions are available to anyone located in Arizona.

Question 4

How does online therapy work in Arizona?

Accepted Answer

Online therapy at Liberation Counseling and Consulting is simple. Before your first session, your therapist will send you a link to a secure, HIPAA-compliant video platform. At the time of your appointment, you click the link and your session begins. You can join from any private location with a stable internet connection, including your home, your car, or your office. No special software or tech expertise required. Online therapy is available to any client located in Arizona.

Question 5

What should I expect in a free consultation at Liberation Counseling?

Accepted Answer

A free consultation at Liberation Counseling and Consulting is a brief, no-pressure conversation. You can reach us by text at (520) 346-6232 or through our online booking page. During the consultation, a member of our team will connect with you to understand your needs, answer your questions, and begin the process of matching you with the therapist who is the best fit. There is no commitment and no clinical intake at this stage. We take the matching process seriously because the therapeutic relationship is the most important factor in successful therapy.

Question 6

How do I find the right therapist at Liberation Counseling and Consulting?

Accepted Answer

The single strongest predictor of successful therapy is the quality of your relationship with your therapist. That is why Liberation Counseling and Consulting invests time in matching you with the right teammate rather than simply assigning the next available clinician. During your free consultation, we will ask about your needs, your identity, what has or has not worked in therapy before, and what matters most to you in a therapeutic relationship. We will then connect you with the person we believe is the best fit. If the first match does not feel right, we will help you find a better fit within our collective. No hard feelings, ever.

Question 7

Does Liberation Counseling and Consulting offer therapy for teens?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Liberation Counseling and Consulting offers affirming counseling for teens navigating depression, anxiety, trauma, ADHD, autism, identity exploration, school stress, and family conflict. Our approach is age-appropriate, identity-affirming, and rooted in the same anti-oppression values that guide all of our work. Parents are involved in each step of their child's therapy process. Teen therapy is available in person at our Tucson offices and via telehealth across Arizona.

Question 8

What does anti-oppression therapy mean at Liberation Counseling?

Accepted Answer

Anti-oppression therapy at Liberation Counseling and Consulting means your therapist will not ask you to leave your identity at the door. We recognize that systems like racism, heterosexism, transphobia, ableism, and classism cause real psychological harm, and we address that directly in our work together. Our teammates do their own ongoing work to challenge their understanding of systemic issues, embrace intersectionality, and create space for your voice. You will not be asked to educate your therapist about your community. We do that work so you can focus on yours.
