What We Do

Feminist, Anti-Racist, Anti-Oppression Counseling

You just want to be seen. AND loved. For who you really are, not the mask you wear every day. You're exhausted, or lonely, or feel like a fraud. But somewhere inside, you know it doesn't have to be this way. You're looking for someone you can trust enough to drop the pretense and learn how to live with courage and connection.

Liberation Counseling and Consulting is a collective of licensed therapists in Tucson, Arizona. We understand that true healing happens when you can bring your whole self to the therapy room. Too often, people feel they have to educate their therapists about their identities or hide parts of themselves. We believe that approach is fundamentally flawed.

People heal when they are seen, heard, and believed.

We do our own work, constantly challenging our understanding of systemic issues like white supremacy, racism, homophobia, ableism, patriarchy, colonialism, and capitalism. We embrace intersectionality, recognizing that each person's experience is shaped by multiple, overlapping identities. We strive to be better listeners, talking less and creating space for your voice.

With Liberation Counseling and Consulting, you don't have to be the teacher or hide parts of yourself. We're here to provide a safe, understanding space where you can explore, grow, and heal authentically.

Your whole self is not just accepted, but celebrated.

Why It Works

The #1 predictor of successful therapy?

It's the relationship you have with your therapist.

Not the modality. Not the number of sessions. Not the type of insurance you carry. The relationship. That's why we invest time in getting to know you before we match you with a teammate. Therapy is an investment we're both making in your future, and it works best when you and your therapist genuinely click.

We're not a faceless directory. We're a small, intentional collective where you know exactly who your therapist is, what they believe, and why they do this work.

Have Questions?

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you take my insurance?

The short answer is "maybe." Because we're a collective, each of our teammates sets their own rates and insurance policies. Some of us can take insurance, and others can't. Please get in touch with us for more information. If we can't take your insurance, we can provide you with all the paperwork you need to submit for out-of-network reimbursement.

What are your rates?

Because we're a collective, each of our teammates sets their own rates. Visit the Our Team page to learn more about each therapist, or contact us for details about fees and sliding scale availability.

Can I meet my therapist in person?

Yes! All of our teammates have in-person availability at our Tucson offices. We also offer online sessions for anyone who wants the convenience or flexibility of telehealth. We serve folx across Arizona.

How does online therapy work?

It's really simple! Before your first session, your therapist will send you an email or text message with a link to a secure site. At the time of your appointment, you just click the link to meet with your therapist. No tech wizardry required.

What should I expect in a free consultation?

Text us at (520) 346-6232 to get started. A member of our team will connect with you to understand your needs, answer your questions, and match you with the teammate who's the best fit. The consultation is free and there's no pressure. We take the matching process seriously because the therapeutic relationship is what makes therapy work.

How do I know which therapist is right for me?

The single strongest predictor of successful therapy is the quality of the relationship you have with your therapist. That's why we invest time in matching you with the right teammate. During your free consultation, we'll learn about your needs, your identity, and what matters most to you in a therapist, then connect you with the person we think is the best fit.

Do you work with teens?

Yes. We offer counseling for teens navigating depression, anxiety, trauma, ADHD, identity exploration, and more. Our approach is age-appropriate, identity-affirming, and rooted in the same anti-oppression values that guide all of our work. Parents are involved in each step of their child's therapy process.

What does "anti-oppression therapy" actually mean?

It means your therapist won't ask you to leave your identity at the door. We recognize that systems like racism, heterosexism, transphobia, ableism, and classism cause real psychological harm, and we address that directly in our work. You won't have to educate your therapist about your community. We do our own work so you can focus on yours.
